The 3 levers that create clarity
Oct 05, 2025Read time: 2.5 minutes
Over the years, I’ve pulled every lever I could think of to feel clearer and in control of my life.
I got more organized. Bought planners. Built routines. Labeled everything I could.
I got rid of things.
Simplified my schedule.
Decluttered every corner of my home (and mind).
And to be honest—it helped… a little.
But no matter how tidy things looked on the outside, there were still moments where I felt stuck on the inside. I was doing all the “right” things, but something was still off.
It wasn’t until I made one key shift that things finally started to click:
I stopped trying to control everything around me… and started making decisions based on what mattered within me.
That’s when real clarity showed up.
Today, I want to show you the 3 levers most people reach for when they want to feel clearer, focused, or in control—and why the one we tend to avoid is the one we should be prioritizing.
Lever 1: Get More Organized
This is usually the first move.
New planner. New system. New schedule.
It feels productive, like you’re making progress.
And in some ways, you are—structure does support clarity.
But here’s the catch:
You can’t organize your way out of misalignment.
If you’re filling your calendar with tasks and priorities that don’t align with your values, all you’re doing is making the noise more efficient.
Clarity doesn’t come from color-coded to-do lists.
It comes from knowing why you’re doing what you’re doing in the first place.
Lever 2: Get Rid of More
When organizing isn’t enough, we usually turn to decluttering.
You let go of clothes, old habits, and unnecessary commitments.
You simplify, hoping that less stuff will equal more peace.
And it helps—until it doesn’t.
Because at some point, you hit a wall.
You’ve cleared the clutter, but you’re still unsure what to do next.
You’re not weighed down anymore, but you’re also not fully clear on what matters.
That’s because decluttering removes noise… but it doesn’t create direction.
And without direction, it’s easy to fall back into the same patterns that cluttered your life in the first place.
Lever 3: Raise Your Standards
This is the lever most people skip.
Not because it’s hard—but because it’s different.
It requires you to look inward instead of rearranging what’s outside.
To ask:
- What actually matters to me?
- What am I no longer available for?
- Where am I saying yes when I mean no?
Raising your standards means using your values to make decisions—not fear, not pressure, not old expectations.
It’s about setting a new baseline for how you live, what you allow, and how you move forward.
When you start making choices from that place, everything gets clearer—fast.
Because now you’re not just reacting or decluttering.
You’re living in alignment.
So what does this mean for you?
If you’ve been organizing more… or decluttering more… but still feel stuck—it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
It just means you’re ready to pull a different lever.
A deeper one.
One that requires clarity on your values, trust in yourself, and the courage to make aligned decisions—even when they’re uncomfortable, uncertain, or unfamiliar.
That’s the lever that changes everything.
See you next Sunday, my friend.
